From Newspaper Production to Record-Setting Sales Performance
My sales career was built through hands-on experience, consistent new business development, and a commitment to helping clients achieve measurable results.
Beginning in Print Advertising
I entered the advertising industry in 2005 through a local newspaper printing facility.
Before moving fully into sales, I learned how advertisements and newspapers moved through the complete production process. This included design, layout, press operations, production, and distribution.
Understanding the full process helped me communicate more effectively with advertisers and gave me a practical understanding of what could be delivered.
Becoming the “Rainmaker”
While working with the Immokalee Bulletin and Caloosa Belle newspapers, my sales performance earned me the reputation of being the company’s “Rainmaker.”
I consistently developed new business, grew advertising revenue, and maintained strong relationships with local advertisers.
Many of those relationships were built by taking the time to understand each business, the customers it wanted to reach, and the advertising opportunities that made sense for its goals.
More Than 300 New Accounts in Six Months
I later transitioned into a corporate inside-sales role focused on new account acquisition.
Within six months, I brought in more than 300 new accounts. This performance helped demonstrate that inside sales could be developed into a scalable and effective source of company growth.
The experience strengthened my abilities in prospecting, outreach, follow-up, objection handling, account development, and maintaining a consistent sales pipeline.
Transitioning Into Outside Sales
After building momentum through inside sales, I transitioned into an outside-sales position.
Outside sales allowed me to develop deeper relationships with clients, better understand their businesses, and provide more strategic advertising recommendations.
The transition also gave me the opportunity to manage larger accounts, expand existing relationships, and pursue more significant revenue opportunities.
Setting a Company Sales Record
I became the only Marketing Consultant in the companies more than 40 year old history, to exceed $500,000 in annual sales.
This achievement established a new company sales record and earned me entry into the organization’s highest level of performance recognition.
The record represented years of experience in prospecting, relationship development, customer service, account growth, and consistent execution.
Sales Principles That Continue to Guide My Work
-
01
Listen Before Recommending
A salesperson cannot offer the right solution without first understanding the customer’s goals, challenges, and priorities.
-
02
Build Long-Term Relationships
One transaction can generate revenue. A trusted relationship can create years of mutual value.
-
03
Follow Up Consistently
Many opportunities are lost because follow-up ends too soon. Consistency is one of the most valuable skills in sales.
-
04
Sell Results, Not Just Products
Customers are not simply purchasing an advertisement or service. They are investing in an outcome.
-
05
Know the Product
My early production experience taught me the importance of understanding what is being sold and how it is delivered.
-
06
Take Ownership
Strong performance requires personal accountability, attention to detail, and a willingness to solve problems.

Applying Proven Sales Experience to Modern Marketing
The platforms have changed, but the fundamentals have not.
My current work in healthcare and digital marketing continues to draw on the same principles that helped me succeed in advertising sales: identify opportunities, communicate value, build trust, follow up consistently, and measure performance.
